This is a new role and exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to join us in continuing to strengthen our people services function whilst allowing the successful candidate to be apart of shaping a new role.
The Academy Clinical Lead is a senior clinical education role responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality clinical learning, placements and apprenticeship pathways across gtd healthcare.
The post holder will act as the organisations clinical education expert, ensuring that students, apprentices, GP registrars and other learners receive safe, supportive and engaging learning experiences.
Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, including universities, training providers and healthcare services, the Academy Clinical Lead will be responsible for maintaining high-quality placement environments, leading audits and quality assurance activities, and driving improvements based on learner feedback and performance data.

- Coordinate and oversee the end to end delivery of clinical education pathways.

- Be responsible for effective clinical supervision practices, including:
- Coordination and oversight of others, including competency development, assessment, observation of practice and peer mentorship.
- Provision of direct clinical supervision support guidance, including case discussion, reflection and feedback to support learners in achieving required competencies and professional standards.
- Coordinate of supervision, assessment and mentoring training programmes (e.g. NMC Standards, clinical supervision programmes), maintaining an accurate register of practice educators.
- Lead and coordinate regular learner progress reviews (minimum 8-weekly), working with learners, line managers and education providers to monitor progress, address challenges and ensure high-quality learning experiences.
- Ensure placement environments are suitable, prepared and compliant, working collaboratively to maintain high-quality learning areas.
- Oversee and coordinate external audit processes relating to placement provision (e.g. NHSE Unified Learning Environment audits), ensuring compliance with required standards.
- Lead and coordinate internal placement base audits, ensuring learning environments are safe, effective and support high-quality learner experiences.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of placements and programmes, using feedback and data to drive continuous improvement.
- Act as a central point of coordination for trainee data for the organisation, maintaining systems to monitor trainee activity, learner status and funding and ensuring effective communication with internal and external stakeholders and supporting audit, assurance and reporting processes.
- Support the development and ongoing review of policies and processes relating to clinical learning and placement provision.
- Maintain and refine clinical placement documentation (e.g. application forms and guidance), ensuring processes remain professional, accessible and streamlined for learners and partners.
- Design and deliver a range of clinical training, workshops and educational sessions for learners across pre- and post-registration pathways.
- Develop and maintain educational resources including learner timetables, induction booklets, competency frameworks and other materials.
- Identify and develop new learning opportunities and placement experiences to enhance learner provision across the organisation.
- Proactively promote and showcase the academys high-quality learner experience, including providing representation at external events, contributing to a positive culture of learning and positioning the academy as a provider of choice.
- Contribute to academy communication and marketing materials, leading on clinical content and showcasing the quality of clinical placements at gtd across different platforms.
- Build and maintain effective partnerships with HEIs, employers and external stakeholders, supporting collaborative learner development and ongoing engagement across placement settings.
- Work in close partnership with internal stakeholders such as the Clinical Education Lead for TrACP and SCP programmes to ensure alignment of standards, learner experience and workforce development approaches.
- Actively contribute to academy and learning related activities, meetings and forums, representing clinical learners.
- Maintain own clinical competence, professional registration and clinical supervision skills, and take responsibility for ongoing personal and professional development, including CPD, appraisal, revalidation and performance review.

Person SpecificationKnowledgeEssential- Understanding of clinical education frameworks (e.g. NMS Standards for Student Supervision & Assessment).
- Knowledge of clinical governance, patient safety and quality standards.
- Awareness of placement quality assurance processes (e.g. audits, ULE).
Desirable- Knowledge of HEI requirements and pre-registration pathways.
- Understanding of apprenticeship or wider workforce development pathways.
QualificationsEssential- Registered healthcare professional educated to degree level (or equivalent), with a relevant clinical qualification.
- Professional Registration with the relevant professional body e.g. NMC.
- Relevant clinical supervision, assessment or mentorship qualification such as clinical supervision training (NHSE or equivalent).
Desirable- Teaching / Assessing Qualification i.e. PGCE, Level 4 Education & Training qualification.

- Demonstrates leadership role modelling within clinical education environments.
