Job summary
St Bartholomew's Hospital, the oldest hospital site in England, is home to world-leading cardiac and cancer centres, providing state of the art treatment to our patients in the very heart of the City of London. We offer robotic surgery, ECMO, complex electrophysiology and are a leading provider of stem cell transplantation and immunotherapy for cancer treatment. We also are one of the top five busiest Heart Attack Centres in the UK and home to the largest Atrial Fibrillation Ablation centre in Europe.

Main duties of the job
Here at Barts Heart Centre we have 10 cath labs that provide treatment for patients undergoing a variety of elective procedures, interventional, electrophysiology and TAVI. Our cardiac catheter labs also support our nationally recognised emergency heart attack, arrhythmia and structural pathways. We also provide specialist cardiology services for heart failure, endocarditis, grown up congenital heart and inherited cardiac conditions.You will have an opportunity to rotate internally between Cardiology Intervention, Electrophysiology & Structural in order to develop a full range of skills and be supported with in house training.We have created exciting opportunities for experienced Cath Lab nurses to develop clinically in advanced nursing practices such as Implantable Loop recorders Implantations and Nurse-Led Radial Access.You will need significant experience in cardiology cath lab and be able to demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge. You will be expected to take an active role in helping us to continuously improve on our patient centred care.Excellent communication skills are essential with a proven ability to support; mentor & line manage junior staff. Applicants will be expected to support the Senior Sister and Charge Nurse both clinically and operationally with the role offering significant development opportunities for the successful candidate.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • RGN/RN
  • Intravenous accreditation

Desirable
  • Accredited teaching or mentoring qualification.
  • Cardiac specialist modules.

Experience
Essential
  • Demonstrable experience working within a similar clinical or specialty area.
  • Proven ability to manage a team or lead shifts
  • Experience in mentoring , teaching, and supporting junior staff or students

Knowledge
Essential
  • Strong clinical knowledge and ability to provide safe, high-quality care.
  • Awareness of relevant guidelines, policies, and procedures, such as NatSSIPs or local governance standards

Desirable
  • Advanced knowledge in a specific area relevant to the speciality (e.g. TAVI, Cath Lab procedures).
