Job summaryThe Nuclear Medicine department is looking to recruit a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join one of the country's largest NHS Trusts, Barts Health NHS Trust. Our service spans three sites - St Bartholomew's Hospital, Royal London Hospital, and Whipps Cross University Hospital - and comprises 4 SPECT-CT systems, 1 Gamma Camera, and a state-of-the-art GE Discovery PET-CT.
The Trust also runs a major GFR service for the oncology department, a therapy service, and a large in-house Radiopharmacy department. There are currently plans underway to add a second PET-CT system to complement the existing one and expand our radionuclide therapy service. Additionally, we operate a highly active Rubidium cardiac service, one of the busiest in the country.
This is a 1-year fixed-term post at 0.58 WTE (21 hours 45 minutes per week), working Wednesday to Friday, with shifts falling between 08:00 and 20:00 according to service needs
Main duties of the jobThe department is well led by senior managers and well supported by Medical Physics and Nuclear Medicine Physicians who provide guidance and support. Successful candidate will be supported in their career path by providing educational opportunities, sponsorships to conferences and seminars. We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated professionals to work across all of their main sites at Barts. Sites include:To be eligible for these positions, you will need:o At least 1 year NHS experience.o Eligible or Undergoing Pg Dip in Nuclear Medicine Or BSc Radiography or DCR or equivalent qualification in Nuclear Medicine Technology Or PG Dip in Nuclear Medicine or equivalent qualification.o Ability to develop own skills and provide information to others to help their developmento Ability to plan, prioritize and organize workloado Demonstrate ability to work under pressureo Ability to rotate across 3 different Hospitals within the TrustCandidate is expected to rotate through various Nuclear medicine/PET CT within the trust that are located at various places in and around London. There will be occasional opportunities to work on Saturday and Sunday on a rotational basis and this work is voluntary.

Person SpecificationExperienceEssential- Minimum 3-year post-qualification experience in Nuclear Medicine.
- Proficiency in the operation of gamma cameras and associated equipment, with a sound understanding of the safe handling of radioactive materials.
- Knowledge of Nuclear Medicine scanning protocols with computer/keyboard skills
- PET/CT experience
- Ability to give IV injections and carry out venipuncture.
- Knowledge of Nuclear Medicine processing protocols
- Knowledge of gamma camera QC
Desirable- Radionuclide Therapy experience
- NHS experience
- Radiopharmacy knowledge and experience
SkillsEssential- Ability to prioritise work in a busy environment, including organising staff resources when acting as deputy to lead radiographer
- Willingness to work within established regimes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Flexibility and willingness to learn and undertake training as required.
