Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to join our dynamic service within Barts Health NHS Trust. Barts Health NHS Trust is one of Britain's leading healthcare providers and the largest trust in the NHS. It was created on 1 April 2012 by bringing together three trusts: Barts and The London NHS Trust, Newham University Hospital NHS Trust and Whipps Cross University Hospital NHS Trust. The new trust has a turnover of approximately £1.1 billion and approximately 15,000 employees.

Together our hospitals - The Royal London in Whitechapel, Newham University Hospital (NUH) in Plaistow, St Bartholomew's (Barts) in the City and Whipps Cross in Leytonstone - deliver high quality clinical care to the people of east London and further afield.
Main duties of the job
The ST3+ equivalent posts involve being responsible for the care of patients in the Trauma and Orthopaedic department across Barts Health. The successful applicant will contribute to the Trauma & Orthopaedics combined rota at The Royal London and Newham University Hospital including the Barts Health Orthopaedic Centre (BHOC). This will provide experience in adult and paediatric major trauma care, as well as a full breadth of elective services.

General duties include being on-call as a key provider of the emergency T&O service, working with the on-call juniors in supporting the assessment, management and treatment of patients presenting with acute orthopaedic problems. There are numerous daily trauma theatres at the Royal London Hospital, as well as Elective lists at the Barts Health Orthopaedic Centre, providing ample opportunity to increase surgical experience. Registrars will also participate in general fracture clinics and a range of sub-specialty clinics in elective orthopaedics.
