Are you a newly qualified Physiotherapist looking for your first professional role and ready to begin your career in a supportive and dynamic environment?

Bedford Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and motivated Physiotherapist to join our Trust as part of our Band 5 rotational programme.

In this role, you will provide high-quality, patient-centred care to individuals with a wide range of conditions while developing your clinical skills and experience across a variety of specialist areas. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the continued development of our services and support the wider Therapy Team.

Our rotational programme provides broad clinical exposure across multiple areas, giving you a strong foundation for your professional development and helping you build confidence across a diverse range of clinical presentations and diagnoses.

Our Rotations
You will have the opportunity to gain experience across the following clinical areas:

• Acute Frailty
• Respiratory Inpatients
• Orthopaedics and Surgery
• Neurology Inpatients and Stroke
• Urgent and Emergency Medicine
• Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit
• Paediatrics

Main duties of the job
Develop Your Skills and Build Your Career

Our rotations run on a four-month cycle, with each placement led and supported by experienced senior clinicians. Throughout each rotation, you will have the opportunity to develop and strengthen your clinical skills while working collaboratively with colleagues across the multidisciplinary team.

You will gain valuable experience across a diverse range of clinical settings, building the knowledge, confidence and practical skills needed to progress successfully in your physiotherapy career and take the next step towards more senior roles.

To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate sound clinical knowledge and skills gained through your clinical placements, together with a proactive and effective approach to problem-solving and patient management. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are also essential, as you will work closely with patients, their families and the wider multidisciplinary team.

Job responsibilities
Clinical Assessment and Diagnosis
Conduct comprehensive assessments using advanced clinical reasoning and manual techniques to formulate accurate diagnoses.

Evaluate patient progress regularly, using objective measures and clinical judgment to adapt and refine treatment plans as necessary.

Deliver patient-centered care with treatment programmes based on sound clinical knowledge and the latest evidence-based practices.

Treatment Planning and Delivery
Design, implement, and monitor individualised rehabilitation programmes that promote recovery and functional independence.

Provide therapeutic interventions requiring manual dexterity, coordination, and therapeutic handling tailored to patient needs.

Develop safe and effective discharge plans, incorporating appropriate referrals to other services and agencies.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential

• Recognised qualification degree / equivalent in physiotherapy
• HCPC Registration

Desirable

• Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)

Experience
Essential

• Experience in the NHS at placement or qualified level
• Experience as working as part of a multidisciplinary team within a hospital setting

Knowledge
Essential

• Ability to manage a clinical caseload
• Ability to communicate with healthcare professionals and the public
