We have a wonderful opportunity for a Band 6 Nurse role within the Specialist ADHD Pathway in Slough.

The ADHD Team sits within the Neurodiversity Service in Children, Families and All Age Service (CFAA).We offer assessment and treatment to children and young people aged 6-18yrs.

We are looking for a qualified nurse who is passionate about working in the community with neurodiverse children and may want a change in their career and specialise in this field. If so, we would love to hear from you.

As a service we are very committed to the development of our staff and can offer both internal & external training with this role, including NMP training.

Main duties of the job

• You will join an experienced, passionate& dedicated team that works across Berkshire to provide ADHD assessments and on-going care to children, young people and families.
• The main responsibilities of the role will be conducting an ADHD assessment for children and young people as well as managing a caseload of children and young people who have an existing diagnosis of ADHD and to arrange and conduct their medication reviews which include taking some physical observations.
• You may have to make onward referrals to other services within the CFAA division.
• We work closely with other teams within the CFAA service as well as partnership agencies and voluntary services that support children, young people and families pre and post assessment. The Team also offers support to families via the innovative online platform SHaRON (Support Hope and Resources Online)

Job responsibilities
The must haves for you to be considered for this role:

• A qualified mental health, learning disability, public health or paediatric nurse
• Able to work flexibly in response to service need
• Able to take responsibility for devising care plans following reviews for each child, young person and their families.

Education, qualifications or training

• Registered Mental Health Nurse
• NMC Registration
• Specialist knowledge acquired through post graduate short courses, training and equivalent experience, in a relevant field.

Previous Experience

• Demonstrable experience of working autonomously to deliver high quality and evidence-based nursing care
• Experience in providing supervision to junior colleagues and students in the completion of routine nursing and clinical skills.

Knowledge, skills and abilities
Essential

• Demonstrable understanding of an acute mental health environment and relevant legislation such as the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and DOLs.
• Proficient use of digital tools and applications including Word, Outlook and patient management systems.

• Ability to travel between multiple Trust sites and non-Trust locations, including patient homes, some of which may not be easily accessible via public transport.
