Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled, enthusiastic Lead Anaesthetic Practitioner to join our theatre team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) or Registered Nurse with extensive anaesthetic experience to work in a modern, patient-focused environment, supporting elective surgical services. Working as part of our multidisciplinary theatre team, you will lead the delivery of high-quality anaesthetic care, ensuring patient safety and supporting the consultant anaesthetist throughout the perioperative journey.
Job SummaryTo plan and manage the implementation of individual care programmes for patients in the perioperative period as part of the wider theatre team.
To guide, instruct and monitor junior staff and support staff.
Following a period of support and induction, to deputise for the team leader as required.
To practice in accordance with Professional Codes and statutory requirements
The post holder will be expected to meet objectives set out during annual appraisal / Personal Development Review.
To work flexibly within any area of the company as directed by the Head of Clinical Services to provide support in line with service needs
Main Duties of the Job- Prepare and check anaesthetic equipment and medications.
- Assist the anaesthetist before, during and after procedures.
- Monitor patients throughout the anaesthetic phase of care.
- Maintain accurate documentation and clinical records.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention and patient safety standards.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations.
- Work collaboratively with theatre and recovery teams.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- HCPC-registered Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) or NMC-registered Registered Nurse.
Desirable- Immediate Life Support (ILS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.

ExperienceEssential- Extensive experience working as an Anaesthetic Practitioner.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to delivering high standards of patient care.
