Job summaryAn exciting opportunity has risen on CAMHS MSU for a Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager to work within the team.
CMAHS MSU is a 10 bedded unit split across Pacific and Atlantic Wards at Ardenleigh. We work in collaboration with a variety of providers and our MDT to deliver robust care to our service users with their care individually tailored to each person.
Our Deputy Ward Managers provide frontline leadership within a dynamic, pro-active and recovery focused ward. We aim to provide great quality of care within a safe and comfortable environment guided by the Trauma informed Care model. Our staff are expected to follow the trust values, and our Deputy Ward Managers lead by example, supporting staff on the ward to meet their full potential.
In return, we will offer you a Leadership and Management Training, mentorship training, regular management and clinical supervision, continuous professional development and a supportive team to nurture your skills and talent.
You will also be a valued member of the multi-disciplinary team working in collaboration with our service users, their families, and other professionals, internal and external multi-agencies.
Main duties of the jobYou are expected to demonstrate ability in effective staff supervision and appraisals, rota management, communication, empathy, sickness monitoring, self-awareness, clinical skills, understanding of the Mental Health Act, compassion and critical self-reflection. Also, an ability to share responsibility with the management team and recognise own limits in managing decisions. You will also be expected to lead the site as Duty Senior Nurse on a regular basis.
You will need to demonstrate a range of skills and attributes including effective leadership, crisis management, flexibility, and discharge planning and site coordination.
