The Specialist Eating Disorder Team (Children and Young People's Division) is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist to join the Team. We welcome applications from those at band 7 as this is a preceptorship role with scope to progress to 8a over time. We are a full multi-disciplinary team comprised of Psychological therapists, Psychiatry, Occupational Therapy , Nursing, Dietetics and Peer Support.

We are seeking to recruit a Clinical Psychologist as part of our commitment to continue to provide an outstanding model of care & treatment for the young people (aged 0-25) and families, affected by Eating Disorders, including ARFID, in of Birmingham.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual who is committed to working with young people and young adults with Eating Disorders including ARFID.

SEDS are an established, ambitious community eating disorders mental health team. We remain keen to drive forward service improvements through research, co-production and co-learning in our specialist area. There has never been a more exciting time to join our expanding team.

Main duties of the job
  • Contribute to the assessment, formulation and delivery of evidence-based psychological treatments for young people with eating disorders.
  • Offering indirect clinical services such as advice and consultation to colleagues and other professionals.
  • As part of an MDT approach the post holder will work collaboratively to develop a formulation-driven understanding of presenting difficulties and needs.
  • Involvement in service planning and development, this will include identifying need and participating in development plan processes.
  • Contribute to the development of the Team offer.
  • Staff support and supervision, and facilitation of client related work undertaken by other team members.
  • Staff training.
  • Applied research and development related to the needs of the client served and the Children and Young People's DIvision.
  • Participation in Clinical Governance activities including Continuing Professional Development.
  • Participation in the development of operational policy, service planning and service evaluation.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • Appropriate, recognised training in clinical psychology
  • Eligible for HCPC registration as practitioner psychologist

Desirable
  • Post graduate training in relevant area

Experience
Essential
  • Knowledge and experience of working with children, adolescents and their families with mental health needs
  • Experience of providing specialist psychological assessment and treatment for clients across the full range of mental health settings

Desirable
  • Experience of working with Eating Disorders including ARFID
