Job summary
Clinical Psychologist, Wolverhampton Stroke & CNRT Service based at West Park Hospital (potential for this to be increased to 30 hours per week).

You may wish to discuss combining this role with another role within our Clinical Health Psychology Service.We would also encourage applications from recently qualified Clinical Psychologists who are interested in a development role, from band 7-8a. We are also expecting that some additional sessions in this service area will become available in the near future.

Main duties of the job
Are you a compassionate and committed Psychologist who champions inclusivity? Would you like to join our Clinical Health Psychology Service in Wolverhampton Stroke & CNRT Services to help facilitate coping and adjustment to the impact of Stroke and improve the mental health and wellbeing of people within our service.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a ClinicalPsychologist to work in our Stroke & CNRT Service based at West Park Hospital, in Wolverhampton. The post-holder will have an essential part to play in ensuring that psychological perspectives are taken into account across the service. You will provide specialised clinical input to individuals referred, and work closely with the multi-disciplinary teams working with this patient group. As well as work with patients and their families, you will also be part of our team supporting staff teams with training, consultation and supervision.

About us
The Clinical Health Psychology Service is a team of psychologists who aim to assist people in adapting to and developing creative solutions for living alongside physical health problems. The BCHFT Clinical Health Psychology Service currently operates across 3 geographical patches (Dudley, Wolverhampton and Sandwell and West Birmingham) with a number of contracts in each area.

We input to stroke services across all three areas and so you will be part of a larger team of Psychologists working within a range of services for people with stroke and other neurological conditions, so robust supervision and support will be provided.

Psychological Professions is a large professional group within BCHFT, so you will have access to wider support, learning and development opportunities beyond the CHP team.

Job responsibilities
Although the base for this post is at West Park Hospital, the successful applicant may be required to support other parts of the stroke service, should service need require this. Full clinical and operational support will be given if this is ever required.

Education/Qualifications
Essential
  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in applied Psychology (or its equivalent) as accredited by the BPS including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
  • HCPC registration as an Applied Psychologist with Chartered Status
  • Trained in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral trainees
  • Registration with BPS

Experience
Essential
  • Working as a qualified applied psychologist within the designated service including a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and a range of clinical severity across a range of care settings.
  • Teaching, training, consultancy and clinical supervision and field supervisor for doctoral theses.
