Job summaryAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Sexual Health Nurse to apply for the role of Team Leader for the Blackpool locality Sexual Health Service. This is permanent post. The service is open 6 days a week Monday- Saturday. Clinics are run from sites across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management, delivery and development of the Sexual Health Nursing team. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring effective service delivery is provided at all clinical sites. The post holder will work with the clinical nurse specialists and be responsible for supporting the development of nurse led services across the sexual health service provision.
The post holder will be actively involved in working with and supporting nursing staff in the clinical environment and undertake regular nurse led clinics across sexual health services.
The post holder will contribute to the the development and implementation of sexual health service's strategic objectives and will work closely with the Sexual Health Services Manager, Consultants and other senior nurses to further develop all services, driving and communicating the vision for comprehensive and and progressive sexual sexual health and blood borne virus services and ensuring that that services are are delivered effectively and efficiently within the financial allocation. The post holder will ensure that the service provided meets agreed quality standards and key performance indicators.

Job responsibilitiesThe role will include:
- Day to day management of the service
- Planning Service Delivery
- Management o Staff Attendance (Sickness / Annual Leave) and Performance Issues
- 1:1s & appraisals for direct reports and ensure that there is a robust mechanism in place for the rest of team.
- Support the management of the Sexual Health budget
- Management of incidents/ complaints
- Review and report against service KPIs and Audits
- To provide clinical management of patients with contraceptive, genito-urinary or sexual health conditions whilst working autonomously but in collaboration with other health professionals

Person SpecificationEducation and QualificationsEssential- First level registered Nurse
- MW2127/R71 or equivalent contraceptive course or Completed GUM qualification or equivalent experience
- Completed or currently studying at degree or master's level (health related)
- Post registration certification in mentorship/teaching and assessing (EMB 998/997 or equivalent)
- Management qualification or equivalent experience
Desirable- Completed First Issue contraception course or equivalent
- Completion of specialist training for sub dermal contraceptive implant fitting and removal
Experience and KnowledgeEssential- 5 years current experience in sexual health
- Ability to independently undertake male and female genital examinations and screening tests
- Experience of working with PGD's
- Experience of working with young people
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Experience of line managing staff and clinical areas
- Evidence of participation in audit and research
Desirable- Experience of partner notification
Skills and AbilityEssential- Ability to undertake comprehensive sexual, medical and family history at patient consultation
