Advertising for a Locum Consultant in Acute Internal Medicine. This is a full time post fixed for 12 months.

The Urgent and Emergency Care CSU are seeking dynamic and innovate clinicians to join their team of consultants in Acute Internal Medicine.

The successful candidate should have qualities which meet the Trust values along with a strong work ethic and a commitment to developing acute internal medicine in line with the NHS plan. In return the service can offer a friendly and welcoming team, a role with huge variety and opportunities to influence the delivery of acute care at Bradford.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will deliver ward rounds on our two acute medical units, along with inreach to A&E to aid in decision making at the front door. The post holder will help to develop admission avoidance pathways and will work closely with clinicians from other medical and surgical specialties to provide specialist care in a timely manner to patients arriving on the short stay units. The post holder will also have the opportunity to assist in the continued development of the Trust's medical day case unit, developing a hot-clinic model to ensure our patients receive the right care in the right place at the right time.

Job responsibilities
The successful post holder will be expected to provide clinical leadership, diagnosis, management, and treatment for patients with a broad spectrum of medical needs; act as an expert resource for medical, nursing, and other health care professionals across the Trust footprint; and be an active champion of high-quality care. The post holder will complement and develop existing services through the provision of specialist knowledge & expertise.

The post holder is therefore required to have full registration with the General Medical Council & a valid licence to practice.

If you have a CCT within a medical specialty but are prepared to provide inpatient medical cover to the acute medical wards there will be opportunity for activity within chosen specialty.

Qualifications
Essential

• MBChB or equivalent, MRCP or FRCS of equivalent to specialty (UK) or equivalent, Member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) or equivalent, full registration with the General Medical Council & a valid licence to practice.

Experience
Essential

• Evidence of completing an approved period of training in General Medicine
• Experience of leading and motivating staff
• Wide experience in General Medicine
• Excellent collaborative working skills and able to build strong relationships with Clinical and managerial leaders and professional staff groups and a proven ability to influence and change those groups both within the Trust and externally

Desirable

• Evidence of relevant peer reviewed papers and other publications (e.g. book chapter, book editor, case report - not abstracts or letters)
• Evidence of a developing special interest or additional related training eg research/education/clinical management

Skills
