Join our specialist Paediatric Metabolic Team at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children and make a real difference to the lives of children and young people living with rare and complex metabolic conditions.

As a Paediatric Metabolic Nurse, you will work as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team supporting children with a range of inherited metabolic disorders, including mitochondrial disease, PKU, lysosomal storage disorders, Batten's disease and Barth Syndrome. You will provide high-quality nursing care across inpatient and outpatient settings, supporting investigations, infusions, patient monitoring, education and care coordination.

Working under the supervision of experienced Metabolic Clinical Nurse Specialists, you will develop specialist knowledge and skills while providing compassionate support to patients and families throughout their healthcare journey. You will play a key role in patient advocacy, symptom management, multidisciplinary working and service improvement initiatives.

We are looking for a motivated Registered Children's Nurse (RSCN/RN Child) with current NMC registration, excellent communication skills and a commitment to delivering outstanding patient-centred care. Experience in paediatric nursing is essential, whilst experience within metabolic services is desirable.

Main duties of the job

• Provide compassionate, polite and sensitive communication to patients, families and colleagues.
• Communicate effectively within the MDT, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
• Give written and verbal advice to patients and carers under CNS supervision.
• Promote a positive image of the Trust and contribute to sharing good practice.
• Act as a role model for junior nursing staff.
• Email communication with health care professionals around the region.
