Consultant Post in General Paediatrics and High Dependency Care

Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC) is looking for an enthusiastic colleague to join the departments of General Paediatrics and High Dependency Care. We are offering a 7 PA substantive post. This post will support the critical care team in the management of patients across our 3 HDU areas (Cardiac, Surgical and Medical). The successful candidate will also deliver routine general paediatric outpatient clinics and 2nd on morning shifts for the acute paediatric team. Applicants should have a CCT in General Paediatrics with HDU SPIN or equivalent, or be within 12 months of achieving this at the date of interview, or be listed on the GMC's specialist register.

Main duties of the job
The BRHC is the paediatric major trauma centre for the South West region and is the only dedicated hospital for children in the South West of England. Qualifications & Training
Essential

• Full and specialist registration General Medical Council (GMC) Or
• Within 12 months of obtaining expected CCT date at time of interview

• Higher academic qualification e.g. MD, PhD or equivalent

Experience

• Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in general paeds and safeguarding
• Able to take responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision

• Evidence of a special interest and expertise that complements those of other consultants in the department and is consistent with the Trust's service strategy

Clinical Knowledge and Skills
Essential

• Up to date knowledge and experience of relevant specialty
• Knowledge of NHS priorities with reference to specialty
• Skills in acute paediatric assessment and management, and delivery of outpatient general paediatric care

Desirable

• Broad range of IT skills

Clinical Governance and Audit

• Understanding of clinical governance and the individual responsibilities it implies
