Job summary
Bristol NHS Foundation Trust is offering an exciting opportunity for a full-time Consultant Interventional Radiologist to join our expert Radiology team. This is a replacement post, and a chance to shape the future of Interventional Radiology within one of the UK's most advanced hospital trusts.

Main duties of the job
  • The successful candidate will join a dynamic and expanding Interventional Radiology service, contributing to both elective and emergency vascular and non-vascular procedures.
  • The post holder will participate in a 1:10 on-call rota covering emergency interventional services, including trauma and acute haemorrhage management.
  • The role includes provision of a broad range of image-guided interventions, including vascular, urological, hepatobiliary, and general interventional procedures.
  • Active participation in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings (e.g. vascular, oncology, urology, HPB) is expected, contributing to integrated patient pathways.
  • The post holder will support the ongoing development of Interventional Radiology services, including expansion of interventional oncology, day-case pathways, and regional network working.
  • Opportunities exist to contribute to cross-site service delivery within the Bristol NHS Foundation Trust and regional vascular/trauma networks.

Job description
Job responsibilities
The postholder will have close working relationships with the whole Radiology team including Consultants, Radiographic and associated support staff whilst also developing extensive collaborative links with colleagues within all associated specialties.

Teaching and Training are an integral part with rotating radiology trainees and subspecialty training.

A formal job plan will be reviewed between the Post Holder and Specialty Lead within three months after commencement in post. The exact timetable will be flexible, arranged in discussion with the Specialty Lead.

The job plan will be reviewed prospectively and at least annually. This will be a positive agreement that sets out a consultants duties, responsibilities, and objectives for the coming year.

Qualifications And Registration
Essential
  • Full and specialist registration in either AIM or GIM with the General Medical Council (GMC) or Within 6 months of obtaining expected CCT date at time of interview. CESR applicants are welcome but must have CESR in place at the time of interview. *Locum candidates will be considered without CCT or CESR
Desirable
  • Higher academic qualification (e.g. MD or MS).

Experience
Essential
  • Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in the relevant specialty
  • Able to take responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision

  • Evidence of a special interest and expertise that complements those of other consultants in the department and is consistent with the Trust's service strategy

Clinical Knowledge and Skills

  • Up to date knowledge and experience of relevant specialty
  • Knowledge of NHS priorities with reference to specialty

Clinical Governance and Audit

  • Understanding of clinical governance and the individual responsibilities it implies
  • Knowledge of the principles of clinical audit and evidence of participation

  • Evidence of recent and regular engagement with continuing professional development (CPD) scheme

Research
Essential
  • Knowledge of the principles involved in research
  • Evidence of involvement in research
