Job summary
This role forms part of the Quality Management Team for UHBW Paediatric Haematology, Oncology & BMT services. The postholder ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., HTA, JACIE), manages audits, inspections, CAPA plans, and risk, and maintains essential quality systems, documents, and staff competency records. The role requires strong collaboration with external bodies (e.g., UKHSA, NHS England, Anthony Nolan) and internal stakeholders to drive service improvement and uphold high standards of care, safety, and clinical outcomes across both adult and paediatric programmes. This leadership role provides line management and operational oversight for staff within BMT, IEC Therapy, and Paediatric Haematology and Oncology. The postholder will lead by example, uphold professional standards, and maintain expert knowledge in quality management and clinical governance. The role requires independent decision-making and commitment to continuous improvement. It also includes promoting patient confidentiality, supporting incident and complaint investigations, and contributing to policy development, ensuring high standards of care, safety, and compliance across services.

Main duties of the job

• Manage and oversee the UHBW Adult BMT & IEC and Paediatric Haematology, Oncology & BMT Quality Management Programme, ensuring that the programme meets all regulatory and accreditation requirements, while driving continual service development and improvement
• Maintain and revise a comprehensive Quality Management Plan designed to ensure the Programme meets regulatory and accreditation requirements, sets and delivers targets. Lead, develop, implement, maintain and monitor the Programme's Quality Management System, in order to deliver the aims and requirements of the Quality Management Plan. Lead on change controlled processes to update and reconfigure elements of the system and related wider practice in need of update.
• Schedule, plan, manage and document external inspections, audits and site visits pertinent to the specialties. Coordinate and execute CAPA plans for non-compliances revealed, collaborating with responsible parties to provide evidence to demonstrate that corrective actions have been completed and have been effective.
• Work with Clinical Leads and Patient Safety to identify, draft, manage and mitigate departmental risks, and maintain effective working Risk Registers on the Trust's risk management system.
• Protect patient confidentiality, adhering to all relevant, established guidelines and trust policies.

Knowledge and Experience
Essential

• Administration experience in a busy, customer focused environment
• Experience of working as part of a team

• Experience of using a patient administration system (CareFlow)
• Experience of quality management systems
• Previous patient facing experience, within the NHS
• Experience in maintaining data on a computer system
• Knowledge of medical terminology

• Experience of staff management
• Knowledge and experience of JACIE accreditation process
• Knowledge and understanding of Data Protection Act, Humman Tissue Act, Blood safety and Quality Act

Qualifications and Training
Essential

• Education to degree level, or an equivalent experience
• Good general standard of education, including GCSEs (grade A-C) in English & Maths, or equivalent
• Computer literate and trained in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including email (Outlook)
