Job summary
The post-holder will work as an engineer in MEMO Clinical Engineering's Radiology and Radiotherapy Teams.

The Radiology team is responsible for the whole life management of a wide range of x-ray, ultrasound and other diagnostic imaging and electro-medical equipment within the Trust and elsewhere.

The Radiotherapy team is responsible for the Radiotherapy Departments Linear Accelerators (Linacs), CT Scanners and other radiotherapy equipment.

Main duties of the job
The Radiology team carry out planned and corrective maintenance on a wide range of complex medical equipment. Acceptance testing of new equipment, electrical safety testing and functional / calibration checks of repaired medical devices, cleaning of medical equipment, transportation of devices to and from the MEMO workshops.Team members have the specialised technical ability, knowledge, and skills to maintain and repair equipment used for diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients, and to ensure that the equipment remains safe and within specification.

The Radiotherapy team are involved in the whole life management of a wide range of radiotherapy medical equipment and also provide some support to the other departments within the BHOC (Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre) building.The job involves carrying out preventative and corrective maintenance on various complex medical equipment. This will include HV, high power RF, analogue and digital circuits, and water cooling. The linacs also have both vacuum and gas filled components.

Job responsibilities
Team members diagnose and repair faults caused by a range of mechanical, electrical, electronic and software issues, and to ensure that equipment remains safe and within specification.The post holder will have the requisite knowledge and skills to work independently with complex electrical medical equipment. They will have the knowledge to differentiate between technical and clinical problems and have authority to refer problems to suitably qualified colleagues.

Essential

• HNC/HND Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent
• Evidence of continuing professional development
• Working towards a relevant engineering qualification
• B. Eng. degree or equivalent level of knowledge

Experience
Essential

• Experience of working on electrical/electronic/mechanical equipment servicing and repairing

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

• Ability to manoeuvre medium/heavy weight in varying locations
