Job summary
We are recruiting a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join our Speech and Language Therapy Statutory and School Age team which is part of the Integrated Children and Young People's Therapies Service in Buckinghamshire. The Speech and Language Therapy Service forms part of a wider children and young people's service including Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Health Visitors, Community Nurses for Children with a Learning Disability, Community Paediatricians and School Nurses.

Main duties of the job
This post is locality team based within the Aylesbury area, with opportunities to work with colleagues across our whole team in Buckinghamshire.

This is a jointly commissioned service that will give you the opportunity to use your innovative and dynamic SLT skills to influence the delivery of high quality, evidence-based interventions for children and young people in Buckinghamshire.

  • Regular clinical supervision, one to one and peer groups
  • Access to a variety of CPD sessions on specific clinical areas supported by Clinical Leads
  • Clinical and caseload discussions with senior colleagues
  • Coaching, mentoring and access to external courses
  • Attendance at regional and national CEN meetings

Award winning and evidence based programmes by Speech and Language Link, are commissioned to every mainstream school setting across Buckinghamshire and supports a graduated approach to therapy delivery alongside our school advice sessions and webinars.

Education, Qualifications and Training
Essential
  • Health Professions Council Licence to Practice
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and personal development.
  • Registered member of the Royal College of Speech And Language Therapists

Desirable
  • Recognised Speech & Language Therapy degree qualification or equivalent
  • Attendance of relevant SIG's/ short courses

Experience
Essential
  • Clinical experience in a variety of settings
  • Evidence of specialist knowledge/skills resulting from clinical experience and CPD
  • Demonstrates knowledge of specialist SLT assessment tools relevant to the client group
  • Demonstrates knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic intervention

Desirable
  • Demonstrates awareness of the roles of other professionals
  • Demonstrates awareness of standards of record keeping
  • Able to manage emotional consequences and sensitivity in working with patients with a range of communication disorders
  • Able to maintain intense concentration in all aspects of patient management

Skills, Abilities and Knowledge
Desirable
  • Ability to write detailed reports on patients' care to ensure interpretation by other professionals and parents.
  • Ability to negotiate compromises and resolve conflict between staff amicably.
  • Clear concise verbal and written communication to ensure liaison with multidisplinary team, patients and carers and to ensure records are kept accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of specific therapy methods and programmes for the treatment of children.

Special Circumstances
Essential
  • Able to travel between a range of clinical locations.
