About us
Hillingdon Mental Health Service - Hillingdon's mental health services have benefited from investment in the facilities for users and staff. In 1990, the Woodland Centre was opened as the centre for all mental health services for older people. It contained 24 in-patient beds (Oak Tree) for assessment of functional illness and dementia. There was also an intermediate care ward. At present the 2 wards are merged and there is a total of 18 inpatient beds, with a stand-alone Memory Service and Older Adult CMHT which has a small Home Treatment Service as part of the team. The service also provides for younger patients with progressive organic brain syndromes. The Riverside Centre provides a light, airy, restful environment with its use of colour and light woods. It comprises a busy Therapies Department including a varied Occupational Therapy programme and psychological therapies. There are two acute mental health wards. The wards were named after the local rivers in each area, Crane (female) and Frays (male). The wards provide some beds for specialties, for example, for patients with acute mental illness and learning disabilities, under a Consultant who also works with the Community Team for People with Learning Disabilities.
