Job summary
This role provides an exciting opportunity for a newly or recently qualified HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist to progress their career through a structured and supported preceptorship scheme. Change Grow Lives Preceptorship Process provides the opportunity for this role to demonstrate competence and confidence across a wide range of domains as you become more established in your career, with a defined pathway through to a Highly Specialist Practitioner Psychologist post. This is covered under a separate job description, but successful completion of the internal preceptorship process will result in you moving to that higher grade within your existing service. Change Grow Live will enable you to further develop your skills and provide ongoing opportunities for professional development.

We would welcome applications from trainee Practitioner Psychologists due to complete training in 2025, as well as more experienced Practitioner Psychologists.

It is anticipated that the preceptorship process is achievable within 18 months 3 years, dependent on the experience of the successful candidate.

Main duties of the job

• Provide focused support to deliver against the role primary functions as listed above these will lead all delivery and activity and should be considered the primary role specific responsibilities ahead of all others noted.
• As part of the local service team, provide clinical leadership; supporting your own services development to deliver psychology, psychosocial therapy and talking therapies, and linkage to relevant local pathways for support.
• Work as a professional registered within professional guidelines.
• Provide clinical leadership and supervision within the sphere of your professional expertise.
• Provide evidence-based and evidence-informed interventions with due regard to issues of equality, diversity and inclusion.
• Actively promote integrated health/care professional working internally and externally.
• Facilitate the development of a positive and supportive team culture.
• Deliver regular monthly reflective practice, team formulations and other psychologically informed approaches for clinical and non-clinical teams.
• Take an active interest in working parties and groups within the wider service to develop and improve on service delivery, protocols and guidelines.
• Support delivery and understanding of an effective, trauma-informed psychology provision within your service, supporting MDT understanding of evidence based/evidence-informed provision.

Job responsibilities
Clinical Work

• Lead the more junior psychological professionals within your service, such that the best professional standards are deployed.
• Provide clinical supervision and consultation to assistant psychologists and counsellors as appropriate.
• Provide rotational monthly group supervision for Service Team Member, Mental Health First Aiders and Web Chat/SUEC Practitioners in your given service delivery area as required and if these roles are present.
• In the course of your work build and maintain links with local NHS, voluntary sector providers and other related services, enabling shared learning and collaboration.

Clinical and Clinical Leadership

• Provide consultation, training and clinical supervision to assistant psychologists, multidisciplinary professionals and non-clinical colleagues to support the provision of psychologically-based interventions.
• Provide highly specialist, psychological assessment and formulation for the people who use our services.
• Promote and contribute to multidisciplinary assessments that reflect an understanding of the impact of adverse experiences on a persons mental health and overall well being.
• Provide highly specialist, evidence-based and evidence-informed interventions with due regard to issues of equality, diversity and inclusion.
• Receive regular clinical supervision from a senior Clinical/Counselling Psychologist, and to use opportunities for relevant peer support and CPD through Change Grow Lives Psychology Team.
• Use theory, literature, and research to support evidence-based and evidence-informed practice within the service.
• Lead provision to ensure that interventions provided are trauma informed,
• Lead provision to ensure that interventions are delivered in accordance with NICE guidelines, CQC regulation and best practice.

Research and Development

• Contribute to and support colleagues with local, area and national evaluation, research projects and audits in this area.

An opportunity has arisen for a Qualified Practitioner Psychologist to become a part of our multidisciplinary team, delivering comprehensive assessment, formulation and recovery focussed interventions to the people who access our services.

Under the supervision of a senior registered Psychologist, you will be part of our national Psychology Team with multiple opportunities for reflective practice, peer support, research, and CPD.

Having qualified you will be supported to complete our preceptorship programme over a maximum period of two years and upon successful completion there will be an opportunity for you to progress within your role, with an ongoing Highly Qualified Practitioner Psychologist opportunity.

You will ensure that people who access our services receive high quality care that adheres to best practice and evidence-based guidelines, improving the psychological well-being of people in our care.

Our model emphasises physical, psychological, and emotional safety and helps people to rebuild a sense of control and empowerment in their lives and in their communities. The post holder will work to ensure that psychological perspectives are central to everyones thinking. They will support the empowerment of teams and individuals to increase knowledge, skills, and professional confidence around the needs of the people who access our services. The post holder will help the wider team create an innovative and effective trauma-informed service which adheres to recommended evidence base.

• Professional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (accredited by the BPS); or the BPS Statement of Equivalence in Clinical Psychology. (The statement of equivalence is designed for overseas qualified clinical psychologists who need to undertake further training to meet UK standards and for psychologists qualified in other domains wishing to become clinical psychologists. The statement is no longer available to new entrants.)
• For Counselling Psychology
• Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology (accredited by the BPS); or the BPS Qualification in Counselling Psychology.
• For Forensic Psychology
• Professional Doctorate in Forensic Psychology (accredited by the BPS); or Masters degree in Forensic Psychology (accredited by the BPS) plus stage two of the BPS Qualification in Forensic Psychology; or Stages one and two of the BPS Qualification in Forensic Psychology.
• Entry-level qualification in applied psychological therapy/mental health/social welfare profession and demonstrable practice in this field (professional Doctorate, or combination of MSc plus PG Diploma level/ supervised practice/ additional training) that has been accepted for the purposes of professional registration.
