Job summary
We are looking to appoint a Speciality Doctor in Urology to join our friendly surgical team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. You will work under the supervision of the consultants to deliver a high-quality service to patients with general urological conditions, as well as providing support to junior colleagues and nursing staff as required.

You will participate in a rota comprising Specialty Doctor colleagues and a Higher Specialist Trainee. Some aspects of the role can be bespoke to the individual needs of the post-holder and tailored to take into account previous relevant experience, or achievement of requirements for application to specialty training.

There is a full shift rota in place & applicants must be able to participate in the full shift pattern.

Mentor support can also be provided for those either already undertaking or looking to commence self-directed Portfolio Pathway.

Qualifications
Essential

• MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
• MRCS
• Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of application
• Formal Urology Training Programme (UK/Abroad)

Desirable

• FRCS Urology 1 & 2
• Masters/MD/PhD

Experience
Essential

• Four years full-time post graduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part time basis) at least two of which will be in a Surgical speciality training programme
• Sufficient skills and experience to function safely on the Middle Grade on call rota in an acute District General Hospital
• Minimum 2 years of UK Experience
• Independent flexi cystoscopy
• Independent General Urology Clinic
• Independent LA Procedure (i.e. Circumcision)
• Emergency Stenting/Scrotal exploration/SPC
• Quality/audit project experience and other aspects of clinical governance
• Experience of participation in CPD.

Desirable

• LATP
• Urodynamics
• Urology Fellowship
• Active Urology MDT participation
• TP Prostate Biopsies under LA

Skills
Essential

• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Clinical supervision experience/skills
• Basic IT skills

Desirable

• Ability to undertake training of clinical staff.
