Are you an experienced and motivated GP or Doctor looking for an exciting opportunity in urgent and emergency care?

We are seeking a dedicated General Practitioner/Doctor to join our busy, co-located Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) on a full-time contract. Working alongside our multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to patients presenting with a wide range of minor illness and injury.

About the Role
As a GP/Doctor within our UTC, you will assess, diagnose and manage patients with urgent but non-life-threatening conditions. You will work closely with an experienced multidisciplinary team consisting of:

• General Practitioners (GPs)
• Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs)
• Emergency Care Practitioners (ECPs)
• Emergency Nurse Practitioners (ENPs)
• Nursing and support staff

The UTC is co-located with the Emergency Department, providing excellent opportunities for collaborative working, shared learning and timely escalation of care where required.

Main duties of the job

• Independently assess, investigate, diagnose and treat patients presenting with urgent healthcare needs.
• Make safe, evidence-based clinical decisions within the scope of urgent care practice.
• Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to provide seamless patient care.
• Refer or escalate patients appropriately to specialist or emergency services when required.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Participate in clinical governance, audit and quality improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to teaching, mentoring and supporting colleagues where appropriate.

About You
We are looking for a clinician who is:

• Fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise.
• Included on the GP Register or possesses equivalent urgent care experience.
• Experienced in managing acute presentations in primary care, urgent care or emergency settings.
• Confident working autonomously while recognising when senior or specialist input is required.
• An excellent communicator with strong clinical decision-making skills.
• Passionate about delivering safe, compassionate and high-quality patient care.
• Able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Person Specification
Education, training and qualifications
Essential

• MBBS, MBChB or equivalent medical qualification
• Full GMC registration with licence to practise
• Inclusion on the GMC GP Register or CCT/CESR in General Practice (or equivalent urgent care experience if recruiting non-GP doctors)
• Evidence of ongoing CPD and revalidation
• ALS, ATLS or equivalent certification

Desirable

• Qualification in Minor Illness and Minor Injury Management

Knowledge and Experience
Essential

• Experience of assessing and managing acute presentations in Primary Care, Urgent Treatment Centre, Emergency Department or equivalent setting
• Experience of autonomous clinical decision-making and risk management
• Experience of prescribing and managing urgent care presentations
• Knowledge of clinical governance, safeguarding and quality improvement processes
• Experience of teaching, mentoring or supervising junior staff and learners
• Participation in audit, service development or quality improvement projects
