Job summaryWe are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team at Christchurch Medical Practice on a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover contract, working 20 hours per week.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centred nursing care across a range of treatment room services, including immunisations, cervical screening (optional), wound care, health promotion, chronic disease management and preventative healthcare. Working closely with GPs and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in delivering safe, effective and compassionate care to our patient population.

Main duties of the job- Delivering assessment, screening, treatment services and health promotion advice.
- Undertaking vaccinations, immunisations and injections in accordance with national guidance and local policy.
- Performing venepuncture, specimen collection, ECGs, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, FeNo and other diagnostic procedures within scope of practice.
- Supporting patients with long-term conditions such as asthma, COPD and or diabetes.
- Providing wound care, leg ulcer management and compression therapy following appropriate training and competency assessment.
- Undertaking cervical screening and supporting sexual health and contraception services where competent to do so.
- Assisting GPs with minor surgery and other clinical procedures.
- Promoting self-care and providing lifestyle advice, including smoking cessation and health improvement interventions.
- Maintaining accurate clinical records and ensuring compliance with NMC standards, practice policies and national guidelines.
- Supporting infection prevention and control, safeguarding responsibilities and health and safety requirements.
- Contributing to Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) delivery and service development initiatives.

QualificationsEssential- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and active PIN.
- Evidence of appropriate professional knowledge and skills.
- Understanding of audit and clinical governance.
- Understanding of health and safety requirements.
Desirable- Chronic disease management qualifications.
- Competency and relevant certification in Asthma, COPD and Diabetes reviews.
- Basic or Advanced Life Support certification.
- Mentorship qualification.
ExperienceEssential- Experience of treatment room nursing.
- Phlebotomy and venepuncture.
