About Community Integrated Care
Community Integrated Care is one of the UK's largest health and social care charities. We transform lives by delivering high-quality, person-centred support that fosters independence and empowerment.
Our charity was founded in 1988 and we were one of the pioneers of the 'Care in the Community' agenda, enabling people to move out of long-stay institutions and live more fulfilling lives.
Since then, we've remained leaders in social care, providing bespoke support to thousands across the UK. Today, we support more than 2,600 people and employ 6,600 caring and committed colleagues across England and Scotland.
We have a proud history of breaking boundaries and are always looking for new ways to make a positive difference through bold ideas, innovative projects and impactful partnerships.
Who you'll be supporting
The person you will support is a young adult male with autism. Autism means they cannot tolerate people placing demands on them and can be sensitive to overly stimulating environments. They have had a long stay in a hospital environment and receive 24/7 support, so it is important that the team understands how difficult transitions and meeting new people are. They need plenty of time and patience to adapt and build relationships.
You will contribute to a psychologically safe environment for them, yourself and your colleagues, approaching each day with a fresh, positive outlook. They require consistent support from a team they trust and feel safe with, so you must be committed and reliable. You will support them to work towards person-centred outcomes, which for them means feeling safe to live the life they choose, with no pressure and no demands.
The property is a single occupancy flat within a block in the community, for a person with autism and mental health support needs. They are quite an able person who enjoys walking and visiting the local community, especially the local cafés. Regular buses link Woodseats to all other areas of Sheffield, which has many cafés and cultures to explore.
About the role
We are looking for a team of multi-skilled Advanced Support Workers who have significant experience of delivering support underpinned by Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) principles. You will provide trauma-informed support that follows structured clinical guidance, building on what currently works well. Experience of supporting a person with autism and mental health conditions would be advantageous.
Shifts and availability
We are looking for a mixed team of people who are flexible to work 2:1 shifts 24/7, including through the night on a rota basis.
About you
The ideal candidate will have a Level 3 in Social Care and strong experience in mental health, autism and sensory communication, physical health and PBS. If you do not have a qualification, you will need experience in social care.
You will know how to connect with people and be passionate about supporting people to live independently. You will also be a brilliant mentor and share your skills and experiences with colleagues. We will develop your talents with specialist training, including Positive Behaviour Support methods, Makaton and the Picture Exchange System.
During recruitment you will meet the people we support in their home, so you can see their personalities first-hand and understand the level of support they require.
You should share our company values: We Include; We Deliver; We Aspire; We Respect; We Enable. We look for people with:
