Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role:
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a caring, compassionate and talented Assistant Service Manager. Reporting into the Service Manager, you will support with the day-to-day management of a new supported living service for a young lady transitioning from hospital to her new forever home in Bromsgrove. You will also be expected to deputise for the Service Manager in their absence.

B is an amazing, young autistic woman with a wicked sense of humour, boundless energy, and with a genuine interest in and caring nature towards others. If you like animals (especially guinea pigs), drama and having a laugh – you will be a good match for B.

You will have significant experience of working with people with learning disabilities, autism and/or complex needs. Ideally you will have experience of working with people with Pathological Demand Avoidance. You will have a strong track record of leading and managing high performing teams. You will possess or be willing to work towards a relevant management qualification e.g. Level 5 Health and Social Care Diploma (or equivalent).

The ideal candidate will possess the essential qualities to lead and work as part of a team. You will create and oversee a psychologically safe environment for B, yourself, and your team. You must be familiar with working reflectively within your own practice and supporting staff teams to engage in reflective practice to ensure the best strategies for the people supported.

You will have experience of directly coaching colleagues in Positive Behavioural Support strategies to improve wellbeing and quality of life, whilst reducing behaviour that challenges and the use of restrictive interventions. With a demonstrable commitment to continued professional development, you will hold or be willing to work towards a Coach level qualification in Positive Behavioural Support. You will have a sound working knowledge of safeguarding, the Human Rights Act, the Mental Health Act and the Mental Capacity Act.

With excellent communication skills, you will have experience of building positive relationships with individuals, their families and other key stakeholders including local authorities and ICBs. You will be confidence and competence working within a multi-disciplinary team. Prior experience of supporting individuals to transition from in-patient services would be advantageous.

You must be willing to work flexibly, working across a 24 hour/7 day rota.
