Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a qualified registered adult nurse to work in our busy General Outpatient Department at Darlington Memorial Hospital. The position is part-time, 24 hours per week for a Band 5 staff nurse who must hold a current NMC registration.

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic hard-working person who will deputise in the absence of the Outpatient Sister. They must have excellent communication skills and a positive approach to care, being able to manage their own workload effectively.

The General Outpatient Department hold both medical and surgical clinics with a vast range of specialties. The successful candidate will be working as part of an established team supporting other outpatient areas including ENT, oral surgery, orthopaedics and the discharge lounge team.

Main duties of the job
As the qualified registered nurse, you will be expected to manage the day to day running of the department area you have been allocated. You will demonstrate compliance with the responsibilities and registration to practice with the NMC. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe and evidence based clinical care, including assisting consultants with minor procedures, wound management, medication administration, phlebotomy, chaperoning and carrying out diagnostic procedures.
