Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centred nursing care as part of a multidisciplinary team. They will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care, ensuring patients receive safe, effective and compassionate treatment throughout their hospital stay. The role involves administering medications, monitoring patient progress, maintaining accurate clinical records and communicating effectively with patients, families and colleagues. The post holder will contribute to service improvement, support junior staff and students, and uphold the Trust's values, policies and standards. We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for delivering high-quality, safe and effective nursing care to patients within the clinical area. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised patient care, ensuring that care is delivered in accordance with Trust policies, professional standards and evidence-based practice.
Responsibilities include monitoring patients' conditions, administering medications and treatments, maintaining accurate clinical records, supporting patients and their families, and contributing to the promotion of health and wellbeing. The post holder will be expected to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients and carers, escalate concerns appropriately, and participate in safeguarding, infection prevention and control, risk management and clinical governance activities.
The role requires effective prioritisation and organisational skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and a commitment to continuous professional development. • Experience of working within a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
• Educated to diploma/degree level in nursing or equivalent qualification.

• Relevant post-registration courses (e.g. IV therapy, acute care, safeguarding).
• Leadership or management training.

Statutory Registration

• Registered Nurse (adult) on part 1 of the NMC register
• Valid UK NMC PIN.
• Compliance with NMC revalidation requirements.

• Additional specialist professional registrations or qualifications relevant to the role.
