Job SummaryThe remit of the postholder will be to work within the multi-disciplinary team providing and further developing the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service. In addition, the individual will be required to play an active role in the general workload of the department.It is envisaged that the appointee will contribute to the development and delivery of inpatient, outpatient and emergency work (ward / A&E referrals).
Main Duties of the JobThe successful candidate will assist in the provision of a secondary care diagnosis and treatment services in oral surgery under Consultant supervision.
Services will be provided on outpatient and day case bases.
The position is for two posts, with an option for part time being available to multiple candidates.
The Trust Grade surgeon will be expected to effectively liaise with staff in a variety of departments, both within the departments of Maxillofacial Surgery and Hospital Dentistry (Orthodontics and Restorative), the Directorate of Surgery, and other departments within Croydon University Hospital, in order to provide comprehensive patient care.
The post holder will contribute to the continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge and for the proper functioning of his/her department.
He/she will undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of his/her patients and the running of the department while working for the hospital.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Full dental fellowship/ membership of one of the Royal Colleges
Desirable- On Oral Surgery Specialist register
ExperienceEssential- 3 years in Maxillofacial Surgery in NHS Hospital
- SHO or Registrar experience
- Oral Surgery experience
- Competent in all minor oral Surgery under GA and LA sedation
- Able to work unsupervised
Desirable- Trauma pathway management
Communication and Interpersonal SkillsEssential- Good oral and written Communication skills
- Clarity of expression
- Good interpersonal and leadership skills
- Ability to work within a clinical team
- Good organisational skills
Teaching and ResearchEssential- Ability to teach junior staff
