We welcome applications from registered pharmacy technician colleagues working in all sectors of the profession. Prior experience working in mental health is not required as a comprehensive programme of training and clinical supervision will be provided.

We provide pharmacy and medicines optimisation services to all of our mental health, learning disability and neuro-rehabilitation inpatient areas, as well as to community and crisis teams. Our Pharmacy staff are highly regarded as valued members of the multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role will be:

• Medicines reconciliation and review on admission.
• Providing support and information to patients and carers to assist with the management of their medicines.
• Optimising medicines, taking a holistic view of both mental and physical healthcare needs.
• Working in off-site community teams co-ordinating the process of medicines optimisation.
• Working in Clozapine clinics providing medicines management support, patient reviews and physical health monitoring including capillary blood sampling.
• Providing physical health and wellbeing advice to patients and staff.
• Discharge planning, liaison with patients, community teams and pharmacies.
• Operational support to the dispensaries at SNH by performing regular accuracy checking slots.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
Essential

• Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
• Qualified Pharmacy Technician (NVQ3/BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences) with post qualification experience
• Medicine Management Qualification
• Qualified Accredited Checker of dispensed items
• Qualified NVQ Assessor (A1 A2)
• Undertake NVQ standardisation requirements as necessary
• Accredited clinical training to deliver clinical service to wards

Knowledge and experience
Essential

• Evidence of commitment to CPD as a minimum to meet mandatory requirements of the General Pharmaceutical Council
• Good IT skills - windows, word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, e-mail and web applications
• Evidence of ability to be self- motivated, practice self- management including prioritising workload and managing expectations of directly managed staff
