Job summary
Are you an experienced Consultant Clinical Psychologist or Consultant Psychological Therapist specialising in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with the leadership skills, strategic vision and clinical expertise to shape the future of CBT provision within a large NHS Trust?

We have a rare opportunity within the Centre for Specialist Psychological Therapies (CSPT) for an enthusiastic, innovative and compassionate Consultant Clinical Psychologist or Consultant Psychological Therapist specialising in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Working within an established collective leadership team, the successful applicant will provide strategic leadership for CBT, alongside delivering highly specialised assessment and therapy for people with highly complex presentations. The role combines expert clinical practice with professional leadership, governance, supervision, research and service innovation, offering the opportunity to influence provision both within CSPT and across the wider Trust.

The Centre for Specialist Psychological Therapies provides a range of specialist psychotherapeutic modalities and post-qualification training. As part of the collective leadership team, the post holder will work alongside consultant psychological therapists representing a range of therapeutic modalities and operational managers.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide professional and clinical leadership for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy within the Centre for Specialist Psychological Therapies.
  • Deliver highly specialised CBT assessment and intervention for people with complex presentations and comorbidities, maintaining a small consultant caseload.
  • Lead the governance, quality assurance and ongoing development of CBT practice within CSPT and contribute to Trust-wide developments relating to CBT where appropriate.
  • Provide expert supervision, consultation, teaching and support to psychological therapists and multidisciplinary colleagues across the Centre and wider Trust.
  • Contribute to workforce development, outreach and the delivery of specialist CBT training.
  • Lead and contribute to research, clinical audit, service evaluation and quality improvement initiatives to improve clinical outcomes.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
Essential
  • Qualifications as stipulated in the relevant person specification to professional background
  • HCPC Registered Practitioner or equivilant, e.g. BABCP registered CBT Practitioner
  • Accredited CBT Therapist

Desirable
  • Qualifications in research methodology

Knowledge and Experience
Essential
  • Substantial post qualification experience in CBT assessment, formulation and treatment across a range of care settings
  • Substantial further specialist training as stipulated in the personal specification
  • Substantial post qualification experience of delivering evidence based psychological therapy training to a range of professional groups
  • An accredited CBT supervisor
  • Experience of contributing to strategic clinical or organisational development and/or service redesign

Desirable
  • Previous experience in a Consultant Grade post

Skills and Competencies
Essential
  • Specialist skills as per relevant personal specification
