Job summaryThis is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Pharmacy Technician to work within the pharmacy leadership team within the Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (CNTW) Pharmacy department.
The post holder will be responsible for managing pharmacy dispensary services at the St. Nicholas' site. This will include developing and implementing standard operating procedures, monitoring the performance of the dispensary function and providing day to day line management of staff within the CNTW and NTW Solutions (NTWSOP) dispensaries.
The post holder will be expected to ensure that dispensary services are patient centred, safe, effective and efficient and that staff working within this area are trained, competent and are provided with sufficient resources to carry out their job.
The post-holder will be required to apply local, national and professional legislation, policies and procedures.
The post-holder will be required to work closely with, and contribute to, clinical pharmacy, procurement and Pharmacy administration services in order to deliver a cohesive and comprehensive pharmacy service to service users
Main duties of the job- Developing, implementing and monitoring Standard Operating Procedures, incorporating local, national and professional guidance and legislation into these SOPs, providing assurances to the Pharmacy Senior Team that procedures are embedded into everyday practice
- Leading and managing the staffing resource in CNTW and NTWSOP dispensaries including ensuring skills mix is appropriate.
- Providing line management of designated Dispensary members of staff
- Leading regular Dispensary huddles to manage staffing resource and to provide feedback regarding performance and safety
- Provision of dispensary management support to satellite Pharmacy sites
- Managing the staffing resource and performance of stock management on designated wards
- Conducting on-going performance measurement using agreed Key Performance Indicators, interpreting results and providing information to senior staff members, looking to achieve positive outcomes for improvements if applicable
- Encouraging a culture of learning through incident and near miss reporting, and leading on interpreting these reports to amend practice and systems as required
- Managing workload planning, predicting periods of heavy demand and ensuring systems and resources are adequate to respond to this
- Contributing to department and trust initiatives, including cost and efficiency improvements
- Lead groups and meetings as required

Person SpecificationKnowledge and ExperienceEssential- Significant post-qualification experience
- Evidence of commitment to CPD as a minimum to meet mandatory requirements of the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Qualified Accredited Checker of dispensed items
- Up-to-date knowledge/experience of relevant legislation
- Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, GPhC standards and other local and national initiatives
Desirable- Experience of managing or supervising a team
- NVQ Assessor (A1) (A2) and verifier (V1)
- Teaching/presentation skills
Education and QualificationEssential- Qualified Pharmacy Technician (NVQ3 / BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences)
- Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council
- Evidence of post-registration training and CPD in skills relevant to the post or specialist area
Desirable- Regional Medicines Management Qualification or equivalent
