Main duties of the jobCygnet Hospital Ealing provides a welcoming, non-institutional environment, offering personalised treatment for service users with an eating disorder or personality disorder over two separate wards. Our team works hard to create a cheerful, non-institutional environment, and to support individuals in their recovery and personal transformation. We make use of a range of therapies including psychodynamic, family, occupational, art, drama and complementary therapies. We also believe very strongly in patient-centred care, and involve our service users in shaping their own treatment, and in all aspects of hospital life.
Cygnet Lodge Lewisham offers both a high support inpatient rehabilitation (level 2) service and community rehabilitation (level 1) service for men. Situated in a quiet residential area overlooking a beautiful Lewisham Park, we support 19 men in a homely, open and community facing environment. Our focus is on pre-discharge planning for individuals who may have been in hospital for an extended period of time or are preparing for community life but need further support to move to more independent living. We are able to support individuals who have a range of mental health difficulties.

Your Day-to-Day...- Establish, lead and co-ordinate evidence based physical health practice initiatives across the service and also, coordinate the ongoing monitoring of physical health of all patients including annual health checks in close collaboration with the ward Doctors and Physical Health Lead Nurses.
- Lead on infection control practice for the hospital including the national clinical standards.
- Provide a programme of health promotion and education in close collaboration with the Dietician and ward Physical Health Lead Nurses and coordinate the implementation of physical health screening across the service including access to cervical screening for the women.
- To work closely with the ward Doctors and Physical Health Leads in ensuring that patients across the service have access to primary care services including dental and eye checks.
- Maintain working knowledge of legislation, company policies, and other relevant local & national guidance pertaining to physical health guidance within mental health services.
- Contribute, as required, to national audits, and carry out clinical audits as required, to ensure that standards are maintained in line with Company policy and national best practice. Ensure information and comprehensive records relating to physical health is recorded in MyPath and entered appropriately on other data records as required.
- Ensure that the service has access to required medical equipment needed in ensuring that patients physical health needs are adequately monitored.
- Ensure that there are local protocols for the safe use of medical devices, educate staff on these protocols and conduct audits to ensure that these protocols are understood and practiced by the relevant clinical staff.

You will have...Essential:- First level Registered Nurse Adult (RNA) or Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration and eligible to practice
- BSc Nursing (or AHP equivalent), or post-registration specialist course at BSc level
- Post-registration teaching and assessing qualification (e.g. Mentorship, ENB 998 or City and Guilds 730, SSSA)
- Post-registration Physical Assessment Skills (Adult) Level 6 qualification
- Infection control lead training or willingness to undertake an IPC course
- A commitment to patient recovery in order to effectively monitor, manage and reduce risk
