Job summaryThis is an exciting opportunity to coordinate, champion and provide leadership to colleagues for physical health care within a mental health setting and enable continuous improvement in quality and performance.
The Physical Health Lead will work in a role that combines pre-existing mental and physical health skills and acquires new ones as necessary to promote the health and well-being of our patients. This role offers the opportunity to help develop existing and future initiatives in physical health monitoring and intervention, whilst being supported to be innovative in the way we offer holistic care.
We are seeking an experienced, passionate and motivated individual to join the Nursing and Professions Directorate for a full time 9 month fixed term/secondment opportunity (End date 31st March 2027).Your base will be at Wonford House Hospital in Exeter, however you will be expected to travel to all our clinical bases within Devon Partnership NHS Trust.
Main duties of the job- You will be working alongside multi-disciplinary teams in both the community and inpatient settings.
- You will work in a role combining preexisting mental and physical health skills and aquiring new ones as necessary in order to promote the heaalth and wellbeing of our patients
- You will be developing, implementing and delivering Physical Health training, ensuring that staff feel confident and competent in providing physical health care.
- Play a key role in clinical governance by providing expert advice.

Person SpecificationExperienceEssential- Understanding of good physical health, how to undertake physical observations (inc non-contact), recognising the deteriorating patient and application/intervention, escalation process
- Experience of working in Mental Health Settings
- Quality Improvement experience
- Experience of clinical/ management supervision and mentoring others
QualificationsEssential- A Professional Registration. AHP, RGN, RMN with current evidence of working within Mental Health
- Evidence of post-registration study/continuing professional development
Desirable- Qualified in Phlebotomy and ECG placement.
