Job responsibilitiesThe post holder will have the option to join the General Physician on-call rota (1 in 16) for non-selected acute take. This consists of post-take ward rounds in the morning and then post-take ward rounds mid-day & evening.
A formal Job Plan will be agreed between the appointee and their Clinical Director, on behalf of the Medical Director, within three months after the commencement date of the appointee. This will be signed by the Clinical Director and will be effective from the commencement date of the appointment. The Job Plan will then be reviewed annually, following the Appraisal Meeting.
Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- GMC Recognised Medical Degree (MBBS or Equivalent).
- MRCP (UK or Ireland) or equivalent.
- CCT in Respiratory & General (Internal) Medicine or be eligible for CCT within 6 months of interview date.
Desirable- Other degrees, e.g. BSc MSc, MD, PhD.
ExperienceEssential- Full and independent management of clinical patient workload.
Desirable- Level 1 competent in Pleural Ultrasound
- Sub specialist interest: COPD, Asthma, Pulmonary Nodules, Thoracic Cancer, NIV, Sleep, Pulmonary Hypertension
Clinical GovernanceEssential- Involvement and understanding of Clinical Governance and Clinical Audit.
TeachingEssential- Ability to teach and support learning activities of medical undergraduates, junior medical, nursing, technical and other clinical staff.
ResearchEssential- Experience of collaborative clinical or laboratory research.
Desirable- To have published clinical work in peer-reviewed journals.
Knowledge & SkillsEssential- Commitment to Continuing Medical Education.
- Awareness of current general medical practices.
- Computer-literate in office applications (word processing, presentation, spreadsheet and database analysis)
- Ability to use internet applications (Web and E-mail)
Desirable- Knowledge of IT-based patient information systems.
