Description

Job summary
We are seeking a motivated, experienced Occupational Therapist to provide clinical and operational leadership within our Integrated Community Equipment Service (ICES). You will act as the specialist lead for community equipment provision, driving best practice, clinical governance, and value-for-money efficiencies across the Derbyshire health and social care system.

Main duties of the job
  • The post holder will be the lead practitioner on behalf of Derbyshire county ICES, providing clinical advice to assist prescribers to select the most appropriate community equipment ensuring the best outcome for the service user to support them in their own home or to facilitate discharge.
  • To provide clinical advice and act as a resource for the Community Equipment Service to its prescribers to ensure good practice and best value for money.
  • To provide a value based decision-making process, on cost efficiencies to ensure best practice.
  • To provide clinical advice on the vast range of community equipment, liaising with suppliers and ensuring a robust process for the training and update of all prescribers.
  • To take the lead role in providing assessment and advice in a consultative capacity to meet the complex needs of Service Users and to maintain records of own involvement as an advising practitioner

About us
Our purpose is to provide community health services to a patient population of over one million people in Derbyshire and Derby, as part of Joined Up Care Derbyshire.

We employ around 4,200 substantive staff, caring for patients in 11 community hospitals and more than 30 health centres, as well as in clinics, GP practices, schools, care homes and, increasingly, in people's own homes and via virtual consultations.

Job responsibilities

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
Essential
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working with community equipment including Adults or Paediatrics
  • Documented evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable
  • Relevant post graduate training

Experience and Knowledge
Essential
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as an Occupational Therapist
  • Experience working in a multi-agency team

Desirable
  • Experience working in the community / Social care setting
