Job summary
To perform the full range of hearing and audiological assessments necessary for the diagnosis of hearing loss including (pure tone audiometry, tympanometry, play audiometry, otoacoustic emissions, speech testing) and fit hearing aids to deaf and hearing impaired children to national standards

Appropriate training and support will be provided to help the postholder progress towards becoming competent in a Band 6 role via the Higher Training Scheme. This is a Band 5 developmental post. The postholder will be supported to develop paediatric audiology competencies through structured supervision, training and clinical exposure.

Progression to Band 6 is not automatic and is subject to:

• Demonstration of competencies aligned to Band 6 practice
• Completion of relevant training (e.g. Higher Training Scheme)
• Availability of a suitable vacancy and successful application at interview

The Band 5 role does not carry Band 6 responsibilities, and the postholder will remain accountable for working within Band 5 level of competence at all times.
