Acute Oncology (AO) focuses on the management of the urgent and unexpected care needs of patients living with cancer. East Cheshire NHS Trust works in close partnership with The Christie NHS Foundation Trust to deliver high-quality acute oncology care across the region.
East Cheshire NHS Trust delivers a five-day, nurse-led Acute Oncology Service, supported by a daily virtual multidisciplinary team (MDT) led by Consultant Oncologists from The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, this is alongside a full day, weekly on-site consultant support.

Main duties of the jobThis post is focused on the delivery of an acute oncology service (AOS). The post holder will play a key role in this service as well as monitoring its impact using a number of key metrics.
In addition to this the post holder will be a pivotal member of the Trusts Acute Oncology Team (AOT) and in the delivery of the service throughout the Trust. The post holder will provide early input of specialist care to oncology patients enabling.
The post holder will give advice and implement patient care in an area which requires specific clinical knowledge, skills and experience. The post holder will work alongside other clinical colleagues in oncology, palliative care, A&E, acute medicine, surgery, radiology and pathology to ensure quality of care to the patients is maximised. This will include the development of clinical guidelines & education programmes.

- Masters level short courses in specialist area or evidence of working towards
