Job summary
The postholder would be working with the local Lung Cancer teams and the Lung Site Specific Team of Clinical and Medical Oncologists, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Pharmacy Prescribers and other professionals at Velindre Cancer Centre.

Velindre Cancer Centre in collaboration with Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB), Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (CAVUHB), Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) has developed a business plan in providing an AOS Consultant outreach service across the South East Wales footprint. It is recognised that, in order to achieve a transformation in outcomes and experience for patients with cancer in South East Wales, it is essential to have a coordinated and aligned approach to change across the whole cancer system. This change is to aids timely, regular support to health boards (HBs).

Main duties of the job
Lung Cancer
The post holder will provide clinical oncology services for patients with lung cancer in Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, working closely with Consultant Clinical Oncologists, Professor Paul Shaw and Dr Po Chan, alongside Health Board Respiratory teams, clinical nurse specialists and Velindre based research team and clinical trials nurses. There is a weekly MDT meeting and a new patient/follow-up clinic at the Health Board, and a SACT clinic at VCC supported by CNS and non-medical prescribers.

Estimated new patient numbers for post-holder: 60-80 per annum (with Health Board respiratory team follow-up according to agreed protocols).

• Experience of MDT decision making.
• Experience of RT planning for lung cancer.
• Experience of RT for palliative and emergency indications.
• Independent prescribing of SACT for lung cancer.
• Acute Oncology on call experience (junior level, supervised)
• Experience of recruitment to clinical trials.
• Teaching Experience
