We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced children's nurse to apply for a Band 6 Role (Permanent - part time hours). The successful applicant will need to be a team player with excellent communication skills and some staff supervision experience. The post holder will be expected to work rotational shifts, including night duties, weekends, and bank holidays.

Hours per week: 26

Main duties of the job
The role of the Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse is to support, contribute to and assist the Ward Manager in the leadership and the management of the Children's Unit. The band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse will support the Senior Sister in the development, monitoring and implementation of high quality, evidence-based clinical care to ensure that continuity of service provision and standards are maintained and improved.

Maintain own NMC registration and personal portfolio in line with PREP guidelines and professional development.

To take lead responsibility with the support of the Senior Sister to facilitate and develop the Unit Team's professional development needs to meet individual and organisational objectives.

To support the Senior Sister in leading and co-ordinating the Unit Team to ensure that timely and efficient admission/transfer and discharge of patients whilst maintaining patient safety

To support the Senior Sister in leading and co-ordinating the Unit in the early assessment and implementation of safe discharge planning, utilising appropriate resources and referral systems.

Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and deliver high quality, evidence-based care, including maintaining high standards of documentation, involving the children, young people and their families throughout the process.
