Our 21 bedded unit provides rehabilitation to a wide group of patients with varying complexities of needs. Our patients come to us following medical or surgical treatment or if appropriate, directly from their own homes. We also provide palliative and end of life care.

Opportunities exist for further training and development within the role. You will be joining an enthusiastic, supportive, friendly multidisciplinary team.

The post involves rotation between day/night duties, full/ part time posts are available. Our focus is on continually improving the quality of care we offer to local people and on improving access to that care, helping people to move seamlessly from one service to another.

Main duties of the job

• To develop clinical supervision within the unit in conjunction with the ward manager and promote reflective practice.
• To undertake regular reviews of patient caseload with the ward manager.
• Undergo annual Development and Review in line with Trust policies.
• To work with your manager in regularly appraising your work and performance.
• Have an objective based Personal Development Plan.
• Participate in auditing the quality of patient care provided on the unit.
• Contribute to the monitoring and development of nursing standards.
• Demonstrate a continuous process of attaining educational, clinical research and leadership skills.
• Be aware of and demonstrate practice based upon current advances in nursing practice and research.
• Act as supervisor and assessor to nurses and students helping to develop an environment conducive to learning and development.
• To challenge and correct staff when performance requires it, raising concerns with ward manager if concerns around behaviours and practice are identified and not resolved.
• Give and accept advice without becoming defensive.
• Help and provide teaching and learning opportunities for trained and untrained staff.
• Act as deputy for the Ward Manager in their absence.
• Help co-ordinate the ward and share responsibility for its resources and cost effective running.
