We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Clinical Pharmacist to join our modern purpose-built facilities to help at ESNEFT. This key position will allow a committed and self-motivated Pharmacist to lead our Pharmacy services to medical patients on our Ipswich site. You will be a fully established member of the multi-disciplinary team within medicine, leading that team on a day-to-day basis, but with an opportunity to develop and establish the pharmacy service to the renal specialty. You will be pivotal in developing our clinical service within the speciality, including the opportunity to be a part of the multidisciplinary team. Our friendly pharmacy team are dedicated to nurturing, mentoring and developing our staff to reach their full potential. We provide pharmacy forums and tutorials. We support personal development plans, smart objective setting and opportunities for study. ESNEFT has recently implemented the EPIC electronic patient record which includes electronic prescribing and administration; and a pharmacy stock control system. In addition to our fully automated dispensaries, we host one of the NHS Specialist Pharmacy Service medicines advice sites.
Main Duties of the Job- Be the Specialist Clinical Pharmacist for Renal services at Ipswich hospital.
- Provide highly specialised clinical pharmacy services to renal patients, optimising patient benefit from treatment and ensuring safe, efficacious, cost-effective use of medicines.
- Play an integral role in supporting the multidisciplinary team in maintaining and developing the renal service.
- Develop working relationships with key personnel at the ICB and NHSE to ensure funding is in place for high cost drugs used within the speciality.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive renal guidelines and generate associated patient supportive materials.
- Clinically screen renal homecare prescriptions.

Person SpecificationKnowledgeEssential- Medicines Management knowledge
- Excellent clinical pharmacy knowledge
- Awareness of clinical governance systems, including NICE and NRLS
- Research and audit practices
- Clinical governance agenda
Desirable- Knowledge of the National Tariff and processes involved in the funding of high-cost medicines
- Local and national priorities in renal medicine
- Basic understanding of clinical issues relating to theatre practice
QualificationsEssential- GPhC registered
- Masters Degree in Pharmacy plus Foundation training or equivalent
- Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy Practice or clinical equivalent
Desirable- Non-Medical Prescribing qualification
ExperienceEssential- Previous extensive hospital experience inclusive of Clinical Pharmacy practice
- Previous clinical pharmacy experience of renal patients
- Demonstrated experience of multi-disciplinary working
- Dealing with high risk medicines
- Previous experience of educating and training other staff
- Experience of technical as well as clinical aspects of pharmacy
Desirable- Previous experience of working with renal patients
- Previous experience with managing and validating homecare
