Main duties of the job
The Digital Clinical Safety Officer (CSO) is responsible for providing leadership and expert advice on clinical safety across the Trust's digital portfolio.

The post holder will ensure that all digital systems, software, clinical applications, medical device integrations and digital transformation programmes are developed, procured, implemented and maintained in accordance with recognised NHS Digital Clinical Safety Standards.

The CSO will work closely with clinical, operational, technical and supplier teams to identify, assess and manage clinical risks associated with digital technology and support the delivery of safe and effective digital healthcare services.

The post holder will act as the Trust's designated Clinical Safety Officer for digital systems and services and will champion a culture in which digital safety is recognised as an integral component of patient safety.

You must be a registered healthcare professional and hold a CSO qualification.

Qualifications
Essential

• Registered healthcare professional (NMC, HCPC, GMC, GPhC or equivalent)
• Masters level qualification or equivalent experience
• Evidence of Digital Clinical Safety Officer qualification and knowledge of DCB0129 and DCB0160

Desirable

• FEDIP registration.
• PRINCE2, MSP or Agile qualification.

Experience
Essential

• Significant experience in healthcare, clinical informatics, digital transformation or patient safety
• Experience of undertaking clinical risk assessments and hazard analysis
• Experience of EPR, clinical systems or digital healthcare technologies
• Experience of governance, compliance and assurance processes

Desirable

• Experience of EPR deployment.
• Experience of AI, medical device integration or interoperability programmes.
• Experience working within an NHS provider organisation.

Skills
Essential

• Ability to communicate highly complex information to clinical and technical audiences
• Ability to influence stakeholders at all organisational levels

Desirable

• Quality Improvement qualification (QSIR, Lean, Six Sigma or equivalent).
