About usThe Airways Research Team
Priority areas for bronchiectasis and non-T2 inflammation research
There is a major unmet need for treatments that target the 80%+ of patients with bronchiectasis and COPD who have non-Type 2 driven inflammation. This is mostly caused by cells called neutrophils and excess mucus both of which currently lack widely available treatments. Our research team is focused on finding new treatments for neutrophilic inflammation and mucus through experimental medicine approaches- where patients receive treatments and patient samples and assessments are used to understand how the treatments work and to provide insights into human biology. Key priorities are therefore phase 1B to phase 3 trials of novel anti-inflammatories and mucoactive drugs and detailed phenotyping studies
