Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated midwife to join the Fleet & Farnham Community Midwifery Team as a Community Team Leader. Based within the Frimley Park Hospital maternity service, this role provides professional, clinical and operational leadership to a dedicated team of community midwives delivering high-quality care to women and families across the locality.

As Community Team Leader, you will play a key role in supporting service delivery, staff development and workforce wellbeing while ensuring safe, effective and compassionate care. You will work closely with the Community Matron and multidisciplinary colleagues, helping to shape and develop community maternity services and ensuring women receive excellent care throughout pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior midwife looking to further develop their leadership skills and make a positive impact on both staff and patient experience.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and operational management for the Fleet & Farnham Community Midwifery Team.
  • Coordinate community staffing, workload allocation and service delivery to ensure safe and effective care.
  • Support, supervise and develop midwives and maternity support workers within the team.
  • Work collaboratively with obstetric, neonatal, safeguarding and community partners to deliver seamless maternity care.
  • Lead on quality improvement, clinical standards, audit and service development initiatives.
  • Participate in the community and senior midwife on-call rota and provide leadership during operational pressures and escalations.

Job responsibilities
The Community Team Leader will provide clinical, operational and professional leadership to the Fleet & Farnham Community Midwifery Team, ensuring safe, high-quality care for women and families across the maternity pathway.

The post holder will coordinate day-to-day service delivery, manage staffing and workload allocation, support staff development, and contribute to recruitment, appraisals and performance management.

Working closely with the multidisciplinary team and external agencies, they will promote effective communication, clinical excellence and continuous service improvement. The role includes maintaining a clinical presence, supporting governance and quality initiatives, and participating in the community and senior midwife on-call rota.

This is an excellent opportunity to lead a dedicated community team and contribute to the ongoing development of maternity services within Frimley Health.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • Registered Midwife
  • Mentorship / PSPA / SLIP
  • Evidence of CPD

Desirable
  • Working towards Masters
  • Leadership/management training

Experience
Essential
  • Experience of clinical audit/quality issues within the health care setting.
  • Able to demonstrate awareness of research related to midwifery practice.
  • Evidence of successful collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams at a senior level.

Desirable
  • Experience of undertaking midwifery research and audit.

Skills & Knowledge
Essential
  • Demonstrates strong clinical leadership and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and presentation skills.
  • Effective internet and IT skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Demonstrates: Epidural management, Perineal suturing, IV drugs and cannulation. oWaterbirth. oHome birth.
