Job summaryAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, experienced and motivated midwife to join our Community Midwifery Team as a Deputy Team Leader.
This role is ideal for a passionate midwife who is committed to delivering high-quality, personalised maternity care and supporting the development of an inclusive, compassionate and innovative workforce. Working closely with the Community Team Leader, you will provide visible clinical and operational leadership while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and the experience of women, birthing people and their families.
**Job only suitable for current UHNM community midwives**Main duties of the jobAs Deputy Team Leader, you will support the management and coordination of community midwifery services, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and evidence-based care. You will act as a professional role model, providing leadership, guidance and support to midwives, maternity support workers and students.
You will work collaboratively with maternity, neonatal, primary care and wider multidisciplinary colleagues to promote continuity of care, improve outcomes and ensure seamless care pathways across the maternity journey.
The successful candidate will deputise for the Community Team Leader when required, supporting workforce management, service delivery, clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives.

Job responsibilities- Support the day-to-day operational management of the Community Midwifery Team.
- Provide clinical leadership and professional support to staff, fostering a positive learning and development culture.
- Maintain a clinical caseload and deliver high-quality, woman-centred care.
- Promote continuity of carer and personalised care planning.
- Support staff wellbeing, supervision, appraisal and professional development.
- Contribute to service improvement, audit and quality initiatives.
- Ensure effective multidisciplinary working across maternity, neonatal and community services.
- Monitor standards of care and contribute to clinical governance activities.
- Deputise for the Community Team Leader in their absence.

QualificationsEssential- Registered Midwife
- Degree level study in midwifery or equivalent
- Current UHNM employed community midwife

- NLS
- Mentorship qualification
