Staff Nurse - Acute Medical Unit, Frimley Park Hospital

We are excited to offer a Staff Nurse opportunity within our Haematology ward G1 at Frimley Park Hospital.

Ward G1 is a 17-bedded Haematology ward caring for patients with complex haematological conditions, including those undergoing chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and treatment for acute complications. These patients require specialist nursing care, close monitoring, and timely clinical interventions.

Working alongside the Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse, you will be supported to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care while also learning to coordinate admissions and contribute to maintaining the highest standards of practice.

Main duties of the job
Our units are rapidly developing unit, caring for patients with a range of acute medical conditions and fast paced patient turnover.

The department takes admissions from our Emergency department and Medical SDEC.

You will work as part of a team of nurses, health care assistants and care assistants and be responsible for the assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating of nursing care.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential

• Registered General Nurse
• Current (or pending) NMC Registration

Desirable

• Trained in the administration of chemotherapy

Experience
Essential

• Competent in basic life support and IV administration
• Acute Medical Nursing Environment
• Teaching and supervising of junior staff

Desirable

• Experienced in working in Haematology

Skills and Knowledge
Essential

• Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to manage difficult / stressful situations
• Able to prioritise workload (self and others) and meet deadlines
• Able to manage a team in the absence of the team leader

Special Requirement
Essential

• To work in other areas of the department when required
• Able to work flexible shifts, weekends and bank holidays as required

Desirable

• Trained on EPIC
