Job summary
Chief Cardiac Physiologist (Paediatric echocardiographer)

Following on from our inpatient merger with RBH, our echo department is looking to expand and develop our services in line with the increased demand that this move has caused, and this post is part of creating and developing a larger team.

The position is for a highly skilled independently reporting Paediatric echocardiographer. The post holder will perform transthoracic studies on Paediatric patients with wide range of congenital, acquired and inherited cardiac conditions. They will practice to the level and extent dictated by their prior experience and competency - in accordance with departmental standards.

The post holder will manage their own transthoracic echo lists in outpatient and inpatient settings and liaise with other health care professionals to provide reports and opinions.

This role may require a degree of cross-site working across Paediatric Cardiology Departments in the Evelina London Children's Hospital and the Royal Brompton.

The post-holder should be comfortable working in acute settings as required.

We welcome interest from all skilled cardiac physiologists with a suitable background in paediatric echocardiography who wish to broaden and deepen their experience in a centre with a global reputation within, amongst other areas, echocardiography.

Main duties of the job
RESPONSIBLE TO: Principle Cardiac Physiologist - Paediatric Cardiology
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Head of Service in Paediatric and Fetal Cardiology

We are currently looking for a highly motivated, communicative team player with excellent interpersonal skills to support the paediatric echocardiography department. The department has recently undergone an expansion with the formal merger of the inpatients across RBH and Evelina and as a result we are looking to increase and develop our echocardiography team and this post is an important part of this process.

The post holder will be required to undertake duties within this area to a high level as a qualified specialised cardiac physiologist. You will be required to have advanced skills in congenital heart disease echocardiography. For advanced echocardiographers, training will be provided in 3D reconstruction and functional analysis; as required.

All staff are encouraged to participate in teaching and research and are given support with their continuing professional development to attend lectures, seminars and relevant courses.

About us
Evelina Children's Hospital at Guy's & St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust

The Evelina London is one of the leading children's hospitals in the UK and a premier Paediatric cardiac centre. The Paediatric Cardiac service at the Evelina was formerly located within Guy's Hospital and has a proud history of clinical innovation and "world firsts". Since the move in 2005 to our purpose built, award winning site, Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac surgery at the Evelina has continued this long tradition for excellence and innovation.

Our cardiac program manages the full spectrum of congenital heart problems on one campus and provides continuous care from the foetus (Fetal Cardiology Unit, Evelina), through childhood (Paediatric Cardiology, Evelina) into adult life (Adult Congenital heart disease at St. Thomas' Hospital). Many of our patients are referred from a network of regional hospitals but, due to the highly specialised services we offer, patients may also come from other UK centres or from abroad for treatment and surgery at the Evelina. Due to this diverse referral pattern the case mix seen at the Evelina is extremely varied and often clinically challenging.

The trust has an on-site gym, cinema, library, social club and swimming pool. There is an on-site nursery (limited places) and the trust is a 'family friendly' employer.
