This is an appointment is for a substantive Consultant in Heart Failure for Guy's and St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust. The appointee will contribute to the delivery and ongoing development of the Heart Failure Service at the Royal Brompton Hospital and St Thomas' Hospital, providing high-quality, evidence-based care for patients with acute and chronic heart failure, including those with advanced heart failure and complex cardiac conditions. The post holder will work within a multidisciplinary team to support inpatient and outpatient services, participate in specialist heart failure clinics and multidisciplinary meetings, and contribute to service improvement, education, clinical governance, and research, helping to maintain the Trust's reputation as a leading centre for cardiovascular excellence.

Main duties of the job
The HLCC HF strategy is to deliver a single, integrated Heart Failure service across GST, RBH and HH, providing consistent, high-quality, evidence-based care while maintaining each site's specialist expertise through strong cross-site leadership and local operational ownership.

Heart Failure is a Care Group managed within the Heart Directorate at the Royal Brompton Hospital, the Cardiovascular Directorate at Guy's and St Thomas', and Heart and Lung Directorate at Harefield Hospital. The three directorates includes Anaesthesia, Critical Care, Catheter Labs, Theatres, and a number of Care Groups, of which Heart Failure is one, alongside Adult Congenital Heart Disease, Pulmonary Hypertension, Structural Heart, Revascularisation, Arrhythmias, Heart Assessment and Inherited Cardiac Conditions.

Heart Failure services are intricately linked with other Care Groups and services within the Trust, referring hospitals and the community, including inherited cardiac conditions, structural heart disease, arrhythmias, and the developing cardiogenic shock programme, including strong links to our durable circulatory support and transplantation service at Harefield.

About us
Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust comprises five of the UK's best known hospitals - Guy's, St Thomas', Evelina London Children's Hospital, Royal Brompton and Harefield - as well as community services in Lambeth and Southwark, all with a long history of high quality care, clinical excellence, research and innovation.

We are among the UK's busiest, most successful foundation trusts. We provide specialist care for patients including heart and lung, cancer and renal services as well as a full range of local hospital and community services for people in Lambeth and Southwark.

We have a long tradition of clinical and scientific achievement and - as part of King's Health Partners - we are one of England's eight academic health sciences centres, bringing together world-class clinical services, teaching and research. We have one of the National Institute for Health Research's biomedical research centres, established with King's College London in 2007, as well as dedicated clinical research facilities.

We have around 22,700 staff, making us one of the largest NHS Trusts in the country and one of the biggest employers locally. We aim to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve and continue to develop new and existing partnerships with local people, patients, neighbouring NHS organisations, local authorities and charitable bodies and GPs.

Job responsibilities
The job plan is anticipated to contain 10 Programmed Activities per week on average to be carried out on Guys & St Thomas sites and includes on-call commitments. This is an outline programme and you will be expected to discuss and agree a detailed job plan including your personal and professional objectives with your Clinical Director within 3 months of your start date.

As an organisation we are committed to developing our services in ways that best suit the needs of our patients. This means that some staff groups will increasingly be asked to work a more flexible shift pattern so that we can offer services in the evenings or at weekends.
