Description

Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust
Post CCT Research Fellow Anaesthesia

Job summary
This Post-CCT Research Fellowship posts in Anaesthesia are designed for anaesthetists who have completed their specialist training and wish to develop advanced research expertise while building a portfolio career in academic anaesthesia and perioperative medicine.

The fellowships provide dedicated protected time for research activity within one of the UK's largest and most academically productive anaesthetic departments. Fellows will work alongside nationally and internationally recognised research leaders, contributing to high-impact clinical, translational, and educational research programmes.

The posts offer a unique opportunity to develop skills in research methodology, grant writing, evidence synthesis, clinical trial delivery, academic leadership, and scientific publication. Fellows will be supported to establish a strong academic portfolio and develop the foundations for future research and leadership roles within the NHS, academia, or both.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will spend the majority of their job-planned time undertaking research activities within the Theatre, Anaesthesia and Peri-operative Medicine (TAP) Directorate. Research activity will be aligned to the fellow's area of interest and the strategic priorities of the department.

The role will include participation in systematic reviews, clinical trials, observational studies, protocol development, grant applications, data analysis, and dissemination of research findings through presentations and peer-reviewed publications.

Fellows will work closely with academic supervisors and multidisciplinary research teams and will be expected to contribute to research education, teaching, and mentorship activities where appropriate.

There are no routine clinical service commitments associated with this fellowship. Any clinical activity undertaken will be limited, agreed within the job plan, and directly support the fellow's research objectives and professional development.
