Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist to join our dedicated Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) Team on the beautiful Isle of Wight.

This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals experiencing a first episode of psychosis, supporting their recovery through evidence-based psychological interventions within a compassionate and multidisciplinary team environment.

Main duties of the job
As a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, you will provide high-quality specialist assessment, formulation and evidence-based psychological therapies, both individually and in groups, to service users under the care of the Early Intervention in Psychosis Team.

Working within professional guidelines and Trust policies, you will support individuals diagnosed with first episode psychosis and work collaboratively with families, carers and other professionals involved in their care. A strong commitment to recovery-focused practice, co-production and person-centred care is essential.

You will also:

• Deliver specialist CBT interventions to individuals experiencing psychosis.
• Undertake comprehensive psychological assessments and formulations.
• Facilitate individual and group therapy programmes.
• Provide consultation, advice and supervision to colleagues within the multidisciplinary team.
• Work collaboratively with families, carers and professionals involved in service users' care.
• Contribute to service development, audit, research and quality improvement initiatives.
• Promote psychologically informed approaches across the team and wider service.
• Work effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters where required.

Across Hampshire, our community hospitals provide inpatient rehabilitation as a step down from acute care, and our dedicated teams also staff Treetops Sexual Assault Referral Centre in Portsmouth, offering expert, compassionate support.

Qualifications
Essential

• Qualification as an RMN, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, or Clinical Psychologist with post-qualification training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Psychosis.
• Applications from qualified psychological therapists without a core professional training will also be considered if they meet the other criteria.
• AND
• Accredited registration with a relevant psychological professional body (e.g. BABCP, HCPC).

Desirable

• Training and qualifications in staff training, other psychological therapies, or other fields of applied psychology.

Experience
Essential

• Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of individuals and their families across a range of care settings (e.g. inpatient, community and primary care settings).
• Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity.
• Experience of working with people with psychosis.
• Experience of maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse, and the threat of physical abuse.
• Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
• Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
• Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
• Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
• Ability to teach and train others.
• Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance as appropriate, to support and maintain clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behaviour.
• Ability to contain and work with high levels of emotional distress and to 'hold' others' stress.
• Ability to prioritise work, focus and manage time effectively, including caseload management and organisation.
• A commitment to the needs of individuals and carers of the Trust within a recovery ethos
• Computer literacy to be able to use electronic clinical records, email, word processing and spreadsheets.
• Ability to travel between sites if required

Desirable

• Experience of the application of psychology in different cultural contexts.
• Knowledge of the theory and practice of psychological therapy in specific groups (e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities etc).
